The head of government, Xavier Spotand the president of the Government of Catalonia, Salvador Islandhave made it official this Friday at Palace of the Generalitat the new plan of Work 2026-2030which establishes the framework for bilateral cooperation for the next four years.
The document consolidates the institutional and cross-border relationship between Andorra and Catalonia and expands the areas of collaboration. The plan includes strategic sectors such as health, infrastructure, environment, waste management and cross-border challenges, and incorporates new fields of cooperation such as interior and public security, language and culture, and social affairs.
During the meeting, spot i island have highlighted the good functioning of the existing working groupswhich have made it possible to promote specific projects and generate benefits for the citizens of the two territories. The new plan also introduces a regular meeting schedule and reinforces the technical structure of the teams to guarantee the continuity of the projects.
In terms of mobility and infrastructure, the two parties have agreed on the need to continue improving connectivity and the development of the airportAndorra-la Seu d’Urgellincluding the extension of operating hours and eventual qualification as an international control point. Progress has also been made in the process to carry out the study of the tramway between the Headquarters of Urgell and Andorra.
In the health field, the two governments have emphasized the good evolution of the cross-border cooperationwith initiatives such as the renewal of the health transport agreement between the emergency services and the collaboration on shared infrastructure and services.
The meeting has also served to address structuring projects such as the creation of a European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation to reinforce the space Andorra-Pyreneesas well as economic cooperation initiatives.
