Fallaire Major de les Valls. A dream come true?
The result of years of being involved in this world and an opportunity to teach young people and the citizens of La Massana that this can be done. At the end you have the illusion of being told, “Eduard, we don’t need you anymore”.
what does it mean
The aim is to set an example for young people, to inspire them to take over.
In fact, he pushed for the return of tradition to Massana.
Five years ago I presented the project to the local authorities, and now we have a collective of both fire and light makers who enjoy this special night and, above all, let the citizens enjoy it. This year we are also wearing the red cape in Massana, I would say for the first time.
Getting the distinction must not have been easy.
We had to win the search for the Fontargent ring. After passing some tests to get the exit order, you participate in a game of clues. I remember I was in the river looking for the ring when one of the squires told me he had found it. She was hanging from a tree and I grabbed her. An exciting win!
Like the first time you shot?
I was 16 years old, my parents had to give me permission!
Who else rides in the family?
My wife! My son is still a light bulb, next year he will be released!
What do you like so much about this tradition?
Popular culture is what unites citizens without differences, and then there is the special relationship we have with fire.
What is this relationship?
Fire attracts you or repels you. It is a dangerous element, but at the same time it has allowed us to evolve and it can also be a moment of calm. Having control over a dangerous element and putting on a show in front of the public is something magical.
And doesn’t it generate rejection being from Civil Protection?
This profession means that my eyes take special care of the preventive area and of security so that the show is done with full guarantee. I am very attentive to the failures when they roll, and all the details such as the fact that they wet their hair, wear a scarf or that they are clear that if there is a problem, they leave the failure on the floor.
What mark would you like to leave?
If I manage to start the spark of enthusiasm for this project in the little ones, it would be great.
