The Dominica Labour Party will officially launch its Roseau North campaign this Sunday, June 28, at Lindo Park. The event, scheduled for 6:00 PM, will feature candidate Ashma McDougall alongside Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and several senior party members.
Chairpersons for the launch are Hon. Darron Lloyd and Ms. Lynsia Frank, while the list of speakers includes Hon. Denise Charles of Soufriere, Hon. Melissa Poponne-Skerrit of Roseau Central, Hon. Gretta Roberts of Morne Jaune/Riviere Cyrique, Ambassador to Cuba H.E. Ian Douglas, and Hon. Roland Royer of Cottage.
McDougall was recently ratified as the Labour Party’s candidate for Roseau North following the resignation of former MP Miriam Blanchard due to health reasons.
Born in Bath Estate and residing in Goodwill, McDougall is an economist, entrepreneur, and educator. She has served as President of the National Youth Council of Dominica and as Executive Director of the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce. Her campaign emphasizes youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and economic development, with a pledge to remain accessible and engaged with constituents beyond the election season.
Prime Minister Skerrit has described McDougall’s candidacy as part of Labour’s commitment to bringing in capable and forward-thinking individuals, while Melissa Poponne-Skerrit has highlighted her as a representative of a new generation of leadership. Deputy Leader Dr. Irving McIntyre has also pointed to her candidacy as evidence of the party’s ability to renew itself and nurture new leaders.
