His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani made a telephone call yesterday with His Excellency Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. At the beginning of the call, His Highness the Amir expressed his condolences and sympathy to the Pakistani Prime Minister for the victims of the explosion that occurred in an industrial facility in the Ras Laffan area, which resulted in the death and injury of a number of Pakistani citizens, asking God Almighty to grant the injured a speedy recovery. For his part, the Pakistani Prime Minister expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to His Highness the Amir for his kind feelings, praising the health care provided by the State of Qatar to the injured, and the efforts made by the competent authorities in dealing with the accident. The two sides affirmed their solidarity with the families of the victims, and the two countries’ keenness to strengthen cooperation in a way that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples. During the call, bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed, in addition to developments in the regional situation, especially the developments in the memorandum of understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran. In this regard, the Pakistani Prime Minister praised the efforts of the State of Qatar in promoting regional security, peace and stability, expressing his appreciation for the efforts it is making in supporting security and stability in the region.
