
Palikir, Pohnpei — June 25, 2026 —The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, the Honorable Ricky F. Cantero, received the Governor of Kosrae State, the Honorable Tulensa Palik, for a courtesy call on June 24, 2026, at the Department of Foreign Affairs. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss areas of cooperation and shared development priorities between the National Government and the State of Kosrae.
During the meeting, Governor Palik expressed appreciation for the Department of Foreign Affairs’ continued support to Kosrae State, particularly in facilitating international training opportunities and strengthening engagement with development partners. Governor Palik highlighted the importance of strengthening capacity-building initiatives for state personnel, including protocol and diplomatic training, to better equip the state for its growing engagement with foreign partners and investors.
Secretary Cantero welcomed Governor Palik and reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to working closely with all state governments to advance their interest and ensure their priorities are effectively represented in both national and international engagements. He commended Kosrae State’s proactive engagement with development partners and its commitment to pursuing opportunities that that contribute to the state’s economic and social development.
The discussions also covered key development priorities, including fisheries development, infrastructure improvement projects, port expansion, and continued cooperation with bilateral and multilateral partners. Secretary Cantero assured Governor Palik that the Department stands ready to assist Kosrae State in securing support for its development priorities and facilitating engagement with foreign governments and international organizations.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination and open communication between the National Government and the state governments to maximize opportunities for development assistance and investment.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the strong partnership between the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Government of Kosrae, as well as a shared commitment to advancing the interests and the well-being of the people of Kosrae and the Federated States of Micronesia.
