The aircraft crossed the international border near the Attari border and entered Pakistani airspace. Lahore Air Traffic Control became active after sensing the presence of the aircraft. The pilot of the plane was alerted from there. After that, the plane turned around and entered the sky of India again. However, he did not land in Amritsar, instead he came to Delhi due to traffic congestion in the sky. The plane finally refueled and landed in Amritsar late on Wednesday night, at 2:10 PM.
The aircraft was in Pakistan’s skies for a couple of minutes at Mereket. But the whole incident spread tension. According to sources, the aircraft was asked to be in a holding pattern due to air traffic congestion at Amritsar airport. Even after trying to land like that, the plane had to fly in the sky again. At that time it entered Pakistan’s airspace for a short while. After receiving the warning, he returned immediately. It is not yet clear how many passengers were on the plane at that time.
Air India said that the entire incident has been reported to the DGCA. Investigation has been started on the matter. Besides, they did not reveal anything else.
