    In implementation of the royal order of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, to preserve the historical and cultural identity of Bahrain’s buildings and cities, and to revive Isa Grand Palace and develop the city of Muharraq in a way that preserves its historical and cultural identity, and in implementation of the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to activate the executive plan for preserving the historical and cultural identity of Bahrain’s buildings and cities and to launch the Muharraq City development plan, Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi announced The Minister of Housing and Urban Planning announced that a completion rate of 73% has been achieved in the construction work to develop the first phase of the Muharraq City Development Project, consisting of 6 furjans, which reflects the rapid progress in implementation according to the approved time plan.

    This came during the inspection tour undertaken by the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning to inspect the progress of work on the project, in the presence of a number of officials and representatives of consulting and executive companies supervising the implementation work. The Minister was briefed on the developments in implementation and the completion rates achieved in the various components of the first phase of the project, which includes 6 furjans.

    During the tour, Minister Amna Al-Rumaihi followed the progress of work and implementation progress in a number of major facilities and projects included within the first phase. The implementation of the visitor center designated for the project was completed, and the work of implementing and furnishing the model unit of the project was completed, in addition to packages of residential units of a heritage urban character, which reflects the progress achieved in implementing the service and urban facilities associated with the project.

    During the visit, Minister Al Rumaihi was also briefed on the latest developments in the development of secondary infrastructure services and internal roads in the development areas of Furjan, the first phase, extending over a distance of up to 3.8 kilometers, in addition to the developments in the development of the parking lot, which provides more than 300 parking spaces for residents and visitors in this phase, which contributes to enhancing the efficiency of traffic movement and improving the level of services and infrastructure in those areas.

    During the inspection tour, discussions were held with representatives of the consulting and executive companies supervising the implementation work, during which the performance indicators of the project and the progress rates achieved were reviewed, while emphasizing the necessity of progressing the project according to the timetable prepared for it, taking into account integration between work in construction work and infrastructure services, and ensuring the implementation of the project components in accordance with the approved technical specifications and targeted completion rates.

    The work being implemented during the current period was also reviewed, which includes completing secondary infrastructure networks, road works and public facilities, and preparing sites related to service projects, in addition to following up on field coordination between the concerned authorities and implementing companies to ensure the smooth implementation and achieving the highest levels of efficiency and quality in the various stages of the project.

    The Minister of Housing and Urban Planning confirmed during the visit that the current indicators and completion rates of the project reflect the accelerating pace of work on the project, pointing to the efforts made to achieve the goals of the Muharraq City Development Plan, as it is one of the most important national projects aimed at preserving the historical and cultural identity of the city and reviving its urban fabric according to an integrated development vision.

    Minister Amna Al Rumaihi also appreciated the efforts made by the work teams, partner agencies, and consulting and executive companies in the various project sites, stressing the importance of continuing work at the current pace to maintain the achieved completion rates and ensure the project is implemented according to the highest standards of quality and efficiency and within the specified timelines.
