He considered accepting the position of prime minister as the “proudest” moment of his life and added that he entered politics to improve the lives of millions of people.
Starmer said he had been told “time and time again” that the party was “done”, but “proved those people wrong”.
He added: I restored trust in economy, defense and national security.

The British Prime Minister stated that “I will resign from the leadership of the Labor Party”, and said that he had a conversation with the King this morning and informed him of his decision.
According to the BBC, the new leader of the Labor Party will be appointed before the reopening of parliament in September (late summer), and according to Starmer, he will remain in the position of prime minister until then.
He added that he will do his best to ensure an orderly transfer of power and will fully support his successor.
