Accident in the morning
According to the court verdict, on the morning of January 5, 2026, “Zarafshan–A-379 bus traveling in the direction of Navoi” was involved in an accident in the desert area between 167-168 km of the Navoi-Uchkuduq road. The bus driven by H.Sh., born in 1986, ran off the road and overturned due to the carelessness of the driver.
As a result of the accident, 3 people (one of them a minor) died on the spot. A total of 21 passengers were injured in various degrees.
“I got distracted thinking I was going to drink water”
The driver pleaded guilty in court and said that he was distracted by drinking water while driving. He received a driver’s license in January 2021.
“I drove the bus through the next pass from Zarafshan at a speed of 20 km/h. After the pass, the fog cleared a little. But even then it was possible to see about 10 meters ahead.
I was driving the bus at a speed of 70 km/h. I took the container on my left side and drank water. Then I lost the lid of the water tank. Even though I was driving the bus, I put the container between my legs and started looking for the cover. At that moment, I looked down and my hand turned the steering wheel of the bus to the right. I turned the steering wheel of the bus to the left, thinking that it might go off the road, but I couldn’t control it.
The bus left the right side of the road, on the hill and overturned. Righting myself, I turned off the bus and the electrical system. At that time, the shouts of the passengers were heard from behind. After that, my partner and I opened the hatches and told the passengers to get out of here”, said the driver in his instructions.
After 35-40 minutes, IIB, emergency medical personnel and rescuers arrived at the scene.
H.Sh. He apologized to the victims and asked the court for relief.
Punishment
By the judgment of the JIB Tomdi District Court on June 11, 2026, H.Sh. He was found guilty of committing the crime (violation of safety rules of traffic or use of vehicles causing death of people) provided for in paragraph “a” of Article 266, Part 3 of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment with 3 years of disqualification from driving all types of vehicles. The sentence is to be served in the colony.
Also, it is envisaged to recover 147 million soums of material damage from K.Sh. in favor of LLC, which owns the bus.
The information service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Navoi region informed that there were 47 passengers on the bus during the accident, 2 of them died and 9 passengers were hospitalized with various injuries. did.
