The 96th General Assembly of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is set to open in Prague, Czechia, on June 24, bringing together 113 public radio and television broadcasters from 56 countries, including Vatican Radio, one of the EBU’s founding members.

These are some of the key issues at the heart of the upcoming General Assembly of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the world’s largest association of public service media.
Founded in 1950, the EBU today counts 113 public radio and television broadcasters from 56 countries among its members.
The 96th General Assembly will be held at the Cubex Center in Prague, Czechia, on June 24-26, hosted by Česká televize and Český rozhlas, the Czech public television and radio broadcasters.
Vatican Radio, a founding member of the EBU, will also take part in the European media summit.
The pontifical broadcaster will be represented by Alessandro Gisotti, deputy director of the Dicastery for Communication and chair of the EBU’s Radio and Audio News Group.
The General Assembly will also include regional meetings of Public Service Media. Vatican Radio plays an active role in both the Mediterranean Group and the Small States Group.
The General Assembly is the European Broadcasting Union’s highest governing body and holds all the powers needed to pursue the Union’s objectives, including setting its overall strategy and approving its budget. It meets twice a year.
The summer session is open to all members and associates and is hosted by a member organization. The winter session is reserved for member organizations only and takes place in Geneva, at the EBU headquarters.
