Due to the quick response of the members of the diving club and the kayaking club, the tragedy did not occur. A coordinated rescue operation followed very quickly. According to available information, the identity of the jumper is unknown, but it is assumed that he is a foreign citizen, the portal also writes vijesti.ba.
The incident happened almost exactly a year after a similar incident at the same location, which could also have ended tragically. Also then, on June 27 of last year, a man jumped off the bridge and landed in the water directly next to a rubber boat that contained a group of people who could have been greatly endangered by his jump. It later turned out that the jumper was Swiss. The locals beat him after the jump.
Because of this, he was the target of critics, who were upset by his irresponsible move, with which he endangered the lives of several people. They warn again that jumping is an extremely dangerous activity. The height of the bridge, the strong current and the low temperature of the Neretva mean a great risk even for experienced jumpers, while beginners without adequate training are strictly advised against jumping.
Locals often warn that such reckless moves can endanger not only the life of the person jumping, but also other people on the water, so they once again call on visitors to act more responsibly.
