Cars are becoming increasingly connected, digitized and technologically advanced. Despite the rapid changes, drivers are still primarily looking for reliability and peace of mind in everyday use.
It is precisely with long-term reliability in mind Peugeot developed a new generation of its 1.2 liter turbo petrol engine. The new Turbo 100 engine brings a comprehensive technical overhaul, the goal of which was clear: to create a more efficient, durable and future-proof powertrain that will meet the demands of modern drivers. Peugeot emphasizes that it is not just about updating the existing engine. As much as 70 percent of the components were newly developed.

Engineers have redesigned many of the engine’s key components, paying particular attention to reducing wear and improving efficiency. The aim of the development was to ensure reliable operation even after many kilometers driven.
An important part of the overhaul is also the new design of the camshaft drive with a chain, which is intended for long-term durability. At the same time, during development, solutions were sought for quieter operation and less mechanical losses, which affects greater driving comfort and better energy efficiency.
The new Turbo 100 engine delivers the results drivers expect from a modern powertrain: responsiveness in everyday driving, efficient fuel consumption and reliable long-term performance.
Every liter of fuel counts
With higher fuel prices, drivers are increasingly appreciating an engine that consumes less, but still offers enough responsiveness and reliability in everyday driving.
The new generation of the Peugeot Turbo 100 engine is designed with this goal in mind. A renewed direct fuel injection system, improved combustion and a new generation of turbocharger contribute to better fuel consumption and lower carbon dioxide emissions. The engine develops 74 kilowatts or 101 horsepower, and the maximum torque of 205 newton meters is available to the driver even at low revs. Such a design ensures responsive and relaxed driving both in city traffic and on long journeys.

Another advantage of the new engine is its flexibility. Since maximum torque is reached as early as 1,750 rpm, the driver does not have to frequently reach for the gear lever or rev the engine to higher revs. This contributes to a more pleasant driving experience and at the same time helps to keep fuel consumption low.
The effects of the renovation are also confirmed by official data. The Peugeot 208 with the Turbo 100 engine consumes 5.1 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers in the combined WLTP cycle, while the larger Peugeot 2008 consumes 5.7 liters. These are figures that combine everyday usability with the efficiency drivers expect from modern petrol engines.
Three million kilometers of testing for greater confidence
When developing the new engine generation, Peugeot did not rely solely on computer simulations and laboratory measurements. Reliability was tested in conditions that reflect the daily use of vehicles as much as possible, from city driving and highway kilometers to more demanding weather and driving conditions.
The development program included more than 30,000 hours of laboratory testing and additional checks in extreme operating conditions. The engine was finally confirmed on the roads, where the test vehicles traveled a total of more than three million kilometers. Part of the fleet also exceeded the 200,000 kilometer mark, which enabled the engineers to closely monitor the performance of the engine over a longer period of use.
Such tests enable manufacturers to detect potential deficiencies and further optimize individual components before serial production begins. For the buyer, however, they are an important guarantee that the engine has proven its durability in real traffic.
The extensive development process is one of the reasons why Peugeot presents the new generation of engines with great confidence. Technical improvements are supported by concrete data and millions of kilometers driven, which confirm their operation in practice.

Up to seven years of worry-free ownership
When buying a new car, many drivers also think about what kind of support they will have during the years of use. This is why the guarantee becomes an important factor in the final decision.
At Peugeot, confidence in the new generation of engines is also supported by a warranty. They provide customers with a two-year factory warranty and an additional five-year extended warranty, which means a total of up to seven years of worry-free ownership. Such support reduces uncertainty at the time of purchase and allows drivers greater predictability of costs in the coming years.
The long warranty is also an expression of the manufacturer’s confidence in its own technology. For Peugeot, the new generation of engines is an important step in the development of future drive solutions, so it wants to offer customers additional confirmation that the technical improvements have been supported by extensive development and testing.
The new turbo gasoline engine Turbo 100 thus combines efficient fuel consumption, reliable operation, a pleasant driving experience and long-term peace of mind. The features that drivers are looking for today will also be important in future generations of Peugeot vehicles.
