They did so officially on June 1, when they gradually began to fix things and prepare the floor in the new ‘box’, as the training rooms are called in the CrossFit world.
– It’s all still a bit new, says Súsan Ýr Guðmundsdóttir Johnsen, when AG meets her at Industrivez 27 – half an hour before the afternoon shift starts.
In mid-June, they got help from the members to move all the training equipment and machines in, and since then the city’s CrossFit enthusiasts have been able to box jumps, burpees and dead promise in the new surroundings.
– We are very happy. We didn’t have a bath down in the old box, but we do now, says Camilla Nymand Petersen, who is also one of the owners and coaches.
Concrete and bath
CrossFit is a form of training where you typically combine weight lifting, fitness and gymnastics in shorter and intense training sessions.
In Nuuk, you have been able to practice CrossFit for a number of years now, but CrossFit Inua – as the members know it today – started in 2022. The box was established many years before that.

In the beginning they had premises near the tunnel in Nuuk, and later in larger premises at Radiofjeldet. When they had to move once again, CrossFit Inua ended up moving to Nuukkullak.
– It was lucky that we found it, but the floor was quite uneven and there was only one toilet, says Camilla Nymand Petersen.
– And then we discovered this room, where there was an even concrete floor, and we were allowed to rent it. So it’s absolutely fantastic. Absolutely perfect, she says.
According to her, the members have also welcomed it so far. She and the other owners hope that even more people will come down and train.
– Through CrossFit you can make a lot of good friends and you can get in better shape. And it is a very good alternative to other sports, says Camilla Nymand Petersen.
– Yes, because you can be anything from a beginner to the very best. You are still on the same team. Everyone here is good enough, says Súsan Ýr Guðmundsdóttir Johnsen.
