The fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, also refused the Order of the White Eagle due to the decision of Polish President Karol Nawrocki to deprive Volodymyr Zelensky of this award.

That’s why I decided to give up the Order of the White Eagle. Two weeks ago, I promised my colleagues at the conciliation council to take this step if we failed to convince President Navrotsky not to make a wrong decision. Unfortunately, it didn’t work.”
Details: Poroshenko noted that the refusal of the order is his gesture in response to the decision of the President of Poland, but this step is in no way addressed to the Polish people.
“Those in Poland who do not chew on historical myths, but study history and draw conclusions from its lessons, know that after Ukraine loses its independence, Poland loses it too. But our relations should not be determined by the past. I do not want the Poles to edit our textbooks and I do not claim in any way that we Ukrainians correct the Polish textbooks, because otherwise we will be sent a joint textbook from Moscow,” he added. ex-president
He emphasized that logistics is extremely important in the Russian-Ukrainian war. And Russia “through its agents of influence, through useful idiots and through old historical wounds is trying to destroy our logistics in the west.”
“That’s why any crisis between Kyiv and Warsaw today is not only a diplomatic problem. It’s a security issue. And that’s why it needs to be resolved immediately. Today it’s important not to deepen the conflict, but to end it,” Poroshenko emphasized.
He suggests “starting from Monday to look for solutions that will not deepen the current crisis, but turn it into an impetus for a new stage of Ukrainian-Polish partnership – honest, friendly, strategic.”
“Politicians can afford political gestures, but diplomats should not throw orders, but overcome the crisis,” Poroshenko added.
What preceded: Earlier on Saturday, the second president of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma, announced about refusal of the order White Eagle.
Later, the third president announced such a move Viktor Yushchenko.
