Domestic accident: Strong emotion and deep dismay have spread to the commune of Oulad Ayad, in the province of Fquih Ben Salah, following a tragic accident which claimed the lives of two young girls, victims of serious burns while they were playing on the terrace of a home.
According to information reported by local sources, the two children were having fun on the roof of the house of the family of one of them, when they approached a brazier that remained lit after use. Nearby was a container containing a flammable substance, which apparently ignited on contact with the heat source, suddenly causing a large outbreak. The flames quickly spread to the clothes of the two victims, inflicting severe burns. Alerted by their cries of distress, local residents rushed to the scene to help them.
The two girls were first admitted to the local Souk Sebt hospital, before being transferred to the Fquih Ben Salah regional hospital, then to a specialized hospital in Casablanca, given the seriousness of their injuries. However, their critical condition and complications linked to third-degree burns overcame the efforts made by medical teams to save their lives.
This tragedy highlights the dangers linked to the presence, within reach of children, of heat sources, heating means and flammable substances. It also relaunches calls to strengthen the culture of prevention within homes and to intensify awareness campaigns on the risks of domestic accidents, which can transform, in a few moments, into real human tragedies.
