Thanks to the unloading of an imposing gas turbine
Shipping: The port of Casablanca received the Kraszewski ship at the Somaport Multipurpose Terminal on Monday, carrying on board a very large gas turbine and its generator intended for a national strategic energy project, announced the National Ports Agency (ANP). This large-scale handling operation on behalf of ONEE, which is part of the construction of a future combined cycle power plant at the Al Wahda dam, once again illustrates the capacity of the Kingdom’s first port to handle complex industrial cargo, in strict compliance with port security and safety standards, indicates the ANP.
“An important operation with high strategic value, the arrival of the Kraszewski marks a major step in the delivery of industrial equipment of exceptional scale,” notes the agency, noting that the gas turbine, accompanied by its generator and its base, is among the largest loads, weighing 495 and 405 tonnes respectively.
Their handling required the mobilization of specialized lifting and handling equipment of very high capacity, as well as careful coordination between the port teams, the shipowner, freight forwarder and logistics operator in charge of the project, underlines the press release, indicating that this operation confirms the place of the port of Casablanca among the African port infrastructures best equipped for the reception of heavy industrial cargo.
