Police officers from the Gornja Radgon police station were measuring speed early this Monday morning in the municipality of Apače, especially on the Podgrad-Trate regional road. The driver of a car drove as much as 111 kilometers per hour on a part of the road in the settlement, where the speed limit is limited to 50 kilometers per hour by general regulation.
“During the procedure, it was established that the passenger car was driven by a novice driver. His driver’s license was temporarily revoked due to the commission of the misdemeanor, and an indictment proposal will be submitted to the competent court. We remind all road traffic participants to strictly observe the regulations related to speed, as driving at an inappropriate speed is still one of the most common causes of the worst traffic accidents,” she announced. The driver was exceeding the speed limit because he was rushing to work in Austria. In addition to the heavy fine, he will now most likely have to retake his driving test.
