This Sunday “Citizen Power” is presented, a civil initiative that proposes a constitutional reform to ten articles of the justice system in Guatemala.
The proposal is promoted by lawyers Edgar Ortiz and Marjorie von Ahn Scheel, who detail on their web portal a series of changes aimed at strengthening judicial independence, transparency and the judicial career.
The initiative proposes modifications to the system of nomination commissions, the strengthening of the judicial career, changes in the election of appeals magistrates and adjustments to the structure and operation of the high courts, among other points.
