The index is positioned as a combined indicator that allows one to assess the scale of integration of a country into the global space.
All countries studied within the Index are assessed according to 24 indicators, grouped into three main groups of global integration:
- Economic globalization – volume of international trade, level of international business activity, trade flows, international investment, tariff policies, restrictions and taxes on international trade, and so on.
- Social globalization – level of cultural integration, percentage of foreign population, international tourism, international personal contacts, volume of telephone and Internet traffic, postal items, cross-border money transfers, information flows, development of information and communication infrastructure, and so on.
- Political globalization – membership of states in international organizations, participation in international missions (including UN missions), ratification of international multilateral treaties, the number of embassies and other foreign missions in the country, and so on.
The sources of information when constructing the Index are specialized databases of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the United Nations, the International Telecommunications Union, other international organizations, as well as data from statistical institutes of the countries studied as part of the project.
According to the latest report, published in December 2025, Kazakhstan scored 64.17 points and became the leader among Central Asian countries.
In particular, the country is ahead of: Kyrgyzstan – 93rd place (60.79 points), Uzbekistan – 125th place (52.27 points), Tajikistan – 129th place (51.55 points), Turkmenistan – 184th place (41.64 points).
Leading positions in the global ranking are traditionally occupied by European countries. The Netherlands took first place (88.90 points), followed by Switzerland and Belgium. The top ten also included the UK, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Denmark, France and Finland.
It was previously reported that Kazakhstan is in the lead in Central Asia in terms of the volume of social support.
