Shaheed El Hafed, June 10, 2026 (SPS) – The Director General of the Algerian National Archives at the Presidency of the Republic, Mohamed Bouanama, paid a visit on Wednesday to the Media Archives Center, where a training course on archiving is being held for personnel working in archival management across various institutions of the Sahrawi state.
During the visit, Mr. Bouanama addressed the participants of the training session, highlighting the importance of the course and the role of archiving in preserving and safeguarding the Sahrawi collective memory.
Mr. Bouanama recalled the difficulties experienced by the Algerian state during the colonial period, when the colonial power sought to seize and alter archives, considering them a fundamental component of a nation’s memory.
He added that the training program organized by the Algerian National Archives for Sahrawi officials in the field of archiving is intended to provide expertise and strengthen capacities that are essential for protecting and preserving the memory and historical heritage of the Sahrawi state.
