Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, participated in the 82nd Annual General Meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA)IATA) and the World Air Transport Summit 2026, which were held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from June 6 to 8, 2026.
Gulf Air CEO, Mr. Martin Gauss, represented the carrier at the meeting in pivotal discussions for the sector, along with an elite group of senior executives from the global aviation sector. The annual general meeting formed a platform that allowed the carrier to contribute to discussions about the operational, commercial and strategic directions of the sector, as it deals with a changing global landscape.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Gulf Air joined the «CO2Connect» of the International Air Transport Association, an initiative based on actual airline operational data – including fuel consumption, freight, and occupancy rates – to provide more accurate and transparent calculations of carbon dioxide emissions. Through its participation in the platform, Gulf Air is contributing to enhancing the accuracy of global emissions data, supporting more informed decision-making for passengers and stakeholders alike. This reinforces the carrier’s commitment to supporting sector-wide efforts towards greater environmental responsibility and data-driven sustainability practices.
The 82nd Annual General Meeting of the International Air Transport Association brought together senior airline officials, representatives of aviation supply chains, and the most prominent industry partners, providing a critical platform to address the accelerating challenges facing the sector globally.
