“In the end they made me feel guilty.” A beaten teacher in Nurabad wants to leave the profession after a fine

The court fined the teacher 1,560 somoni (20 calculated indicators) Mukhimdzhona Rakhmonova, who complained that he was beaten by the brother of one of the students. Mirali Orzuev, against whom the teacher filed a complaint, was sentenced to 5 days of administrative arrest. The teacher does not agree with the court’s decision and declares that he will “leave the profession.”

As Mukhimjon Rakhmonov reported on June 4 in an interview with Asia-Plus, the decision of the Nurabad district court against him and Orzuev was made on June 3. The authorities did not officially announce the decision.

According to him, the court found him guilty of “improper performance of duties for the education and upbringing of a child.” However, he does not agree with this decision and intends to appeal it to higher courts.

Rakhmonov is also dissatisfied with the court’s decision regarding Orzuev and believes that the punishment is too lenient:

    “

“The prosecutor’s office indicated in its conclusion that there were no signs of a crime in the actions of Mirali Orzuev. He was found guilty only of petty hooliganism under Article 460 of the Code of Administrative Offences. At the meeting, he stated that he gave me only one slap in the face and denied everything else. Neither the head of the district education department nor representatives of the Ministry of Education were present in court,” the teacher emphasized.

Orzuev’s position on the court’s decision, as well as the opinion of the student’s relatives in this case, are unknown. Attempts by journalists to obtain their comment were unsuccessful.

The teacher noted that his financial situation does not allow him to pay the fine now. He asked the court to grant a deferment until he receives his salary. However, he was informed that 10 days were allotted to pay the fine, and after this period expired, the amount would increase for each day of delay.

Previously, Rakhmonov reported that on June 2 he returned to work at school, but for the 15 days that he missed due to treatment after the incident, he was not paid his salary.

According to the teacher, after the court decision he became completely disillusioned with his profession:

    “

“When I was in my fifth year and came to school for practice, I put my hand on the Constitution of Tajikistan and vowed to serve honestly and conscientiously. But now I have given up, I want to leave teaching completely. As people wrote on social networks: “in the end it’s the teachers who make the blame” – and this actually turned out to be true.”

He also expressed regret that the country’s Ministry of Education and Science, whose representatives had previously promised to support him, did not actually provide him with any assistance during the proceedings.

The story received wide public attention after the teacher published a video message on social networks. In it, he said that on the evening of May 8, the brother of one of his students beat him and threatened to kill him after making a comment about his sister’s academic performance. The teacher named the attacker Mirali Orzuev.

Orzuev himself denied the fact of the beating and claimed that only a conversation took place between them. The case caused widespread discussion in society and demands to punish the culprit.

However, two days ago, the teacher reported that after a complaint from Makhmadrizo Orzuev, the father of a student about whose performance he had previously complained to her brother, an administrative case was opened against him. In addition, according to Rakhmonov, the parents of another student complained about him.

The teacher admitted that he really made “only one rude expression” against Orzuev’s daughter, but he denies the accusations from the parents of another student.
