61 years ago, on May 30, 1965, the first wedding house in the history of our city opened in Dushanbe, which began to conduct ceremonial marriage registrations.
For many years, the Central Wedding House of Dushanbe remained the most popular place among newlyweds not only in the capital, but also in the surrounding areas. At that time, it was the only one not only in the city of Dushanbe, but also in the Republic of Tajikistan. Before its opening, the newlyweds held a marriage registration ceremony in the district registry offices.

In Soviet times, there was an unspoken rule: in the Wedding House it was possible to get married only for the first time; in other cases, the newlyweds were forced to contact the regional registry office departments. The Wedding House had a ritual hall, a room for the bride and groom, a consultation room, and a photo room.
The leader in the number of registered marriages of the Dushanbe Wedding House during its existence, from 1965 to 2005, was 1990; 3,085 couples got married that year. In total, from May 1965 to May 2004, 79,261 ceremonies took place in the Wedding House. Since 2005, the prosecutor’s office of the I. Somoni district has been located in the former Wedding House.
