We are talking about a changing type of crime“, he pointed out lasnewho has defended the need to continue investing in training and technology to respond to these new risks.

The director has remembered that the interventions and arrests have decreased despite the increase in population and tourismbut warned that this does not mean that the challenges are less. Among the current concerns he highlighted the technological fraudsthe aggressions between teenagers disseminated on social networksthe drug traffickingthe prostitutionthe thefts and the gender violence.

The raising of the flag in Plaça del Poble during Police Day.

About the episodes of youth violencehas stated that “we must be proactive and prevent it from happening again“, while claiming the involvement of families, schools and institutions. He has also insisted on the importance of prevention against the consumption of alcohol and drugs while driving: “We have more and more conscientious drivers, but we will not let our guard down.”

Faced with this scenario, he has opted to strengthen the body modernization with tools such as fingerprint identification systems, facial recognition or cryptocurrency fraud investigation. “We must take more steps. We need financial and human resources. We must continue to invest,” he said. Despite this technological evolution, the director has defended that the police cannot lose its essence. “We must continue to be close to citizens, to collaborate, accompany and be respected”, he stressed.
