Bern (Switzerland), June 4, 2026 (SPS) – The Swiss capital, Bern, witnessed the activities of the Abulish Festival, which is organized by “Dia Collective”.
During the festival, two documentaries were screened: “Three Stolen Cameras” and “Memory That Refuses to Surrender,” which shed light on the suffering of Sahrawi journalists and activists detained in Moroccan prisons and their families.
Mohamed Mayara, coordinator of the Equipe Media team, and Saeed Mohamed Saeed, representative of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Saguia El Hamra and Oued Eddahab (Polisario) in the German-speaking region of Switzerland, participated in the festival.
Mr. Saeed Mhamed Saeed began his speech by talking about the history of the Sahrawi resistance from Spanish colonialism until the beginning of the Moroccan invasion, through the ceasefire agreement. He explained the reasons related to this, which include seeking to organize a free and fair referendum that would enable the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination and independence, before “Morocco, with the encouragement and support of its allies, reverses its pledges.”
The speaker revealed what he described as “occupation crimes” committed by Morocco throughout its occupation of Western Sahara, speaking about the construction of an “apartheid wall of separation,” which he described as “the longest and highest after the Great Wall of China,” and filled with minefields numbering more than eight million mines, which “bleeds the lives of innocent Sahrawis and limits their lifestyle that they have accepted and inherited from their ancestors.”
For his part, Mohamed Mayara spoke about the two films and the suffering of Sahrawi journalists, detainees and their families, directing sharp criticism at the international community for its “silence in the face of the crimes committed on a daily and systematic basis against the Sahrawi people and against the activists who stand in the front row to resist the occupation.”
At the conclusion of the presentation, the floor was opened for questions to the audience, which showed remarkable interaction with the issues raised. (SPA)
