Tours (France), May 31, 2026 (SPS) – The fifty-fourth conference of the General Confederation of French Workers began in Tours, central France, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the General Union of Sahrawi Workers, Mr. Nafi Ahmed Mohamed, and with the participation of more than eighty unions from more than seventy countries around the world.
The five-day conference witnesses the participation of two thousand delegates representing various branches, structures and extensions of the French Confederation of Trade Union.
The Secretary-General of the Workers confirmed that the Sahrawi issue is present in the conference’s work, in addition to the fact that the event constitutes an opportunity to strengthen the basis of union solidarity in France and internationally, in support of the struggle of our people for freedom and independence.
A delegation of Sahrawi workers will participate, headed by the Secretary-General of the Union and a representation of Sahrawi workers’ associations in the Torres region, including Messrs. Othman Ahmed Bahia and Habda Mahmoud Yahya.

The first day at an international trade union forum discussed the transformations taking place in the world and their effects on workers and their conditions, especially with regard to class disparities and the distribution of wealth, as well as the system of rights in light of what the world is witnessing today, where several tables and specialized interventions were presented.
