It is important to listen to children and give them guidance and protection, writes Naalakkersuisut.
Today is it’s children’s day. On this occasion, Naalakkersuisut focuses on safety, care and the importance of listening to children and involving them in their everyday life.
This is what the Department for Children, Youth, Justice and Equality writes in a press release.
The day will be marked in many towns and villages by bringing together children, families and local communities for various events and activities.
– It is also a day when we are reminded of the responsibility we have as adults. All children have the right to a safe upbringing, care, love and adults who listen to them, the press release states.
In addition, the ministry writes that children need their parents’ upbringing, guidance and protection.
– Sometimes children tell us directly how they feel. Other times they show it through their behavior, silence or mannerisms, especially the smallest children who may not yet be able to put their experiences and feelings into words. We adults have a shared responsibility to be present and dare to ask questions, listen and act when a child needs help and support.
In conclusion, Naalakkersuisut wishes all children and families a very happy Children’s Day.
