Dubai Chambers discussed, during a meeting in the Canadian city of Toronto, with the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness of the Canadian Province of Ontario, Trevor Jones, ways to enhance cooperation in the food and agricultural industries between Dubai and the Province of Ontario, which is the largest economy among the Canadian provinces, in addition to exploring new opportunities to expand cooperation and develop partnerships between the business communities on both sides, in a way that supports the growth of companies and enhances mutual investments.
The visit comes in light of the increasing trade momentum between Dubai and Canada, as the value of non-oil bilateral trade reached 12.6 billion dirhams in 2025, with a growth of 23.2% compared to 2024.
With the participation of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Chambers, Engineer Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, and the Director General of Dubai Chambers, Mohammed Ali Rashid Lootah, the meeting discussed the prospects for enhancing cooperation and partnerships between the two sides in various sectors of common interest, most notably the food trade and agricultural and food technologies sectors.
Engineer Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri said: “The relations between Dubai and Canada embody a promising model of partnerships based on common interests and a future vision for growth. In light of the rapid transformations taking place in the global economy, the importance of expanding frameworks of cooperation between the business communities on both sides and exploring new opportunities in sectors with high added value is highlighted. We are keen to strengthen business ties with Canada, in a way that supports trade and investment flows, opens broader horizons for companies, and establishes the foundations of a long-term economic partnership that achieves mutual benefit for both parties.”
During the meeting, the Dubai Chambers delegation also reviewed the competitive advantages that the emirate provides to Canadian companies, including its strategic location, advanced infrastructure, and investment environment that supports business, and its role as a major gateway that provides access to the markets of the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, in addition to the promising opportunities that Dubai’s future economic sectors provide to investors and international companies.
In June of last year, Dubai International Chamber opened a new external representative office in the Canadian city of Toronto, which constituted the chamber’s first office in North America.
The office plays a vital role in supporting companies in both Dubai and Canada, and works closely with the Canadian business community to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in the public and private sectors, as well as promoting Dubai’s competitive advantages as a global business destination.
