Miami/the movie Cuba and the night (The Long Cuban Night) will have its World Premiere at the Miami Film Festival and will be presented by its director, Sergio Fernández Borrás. It will be in competition for the Documentary Achievement Award, in the Spotlight on Cuba section.
Constructed from cell phone records, the documentary portrays the quartering of the artivist Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara and several members of the San Isidro Movement, who resort to a hunger strike as an extreme act of resistance.
In a context where public space is controlled, the film shows how social networks and the body itself become territories of struggle, and how the digital archive emerges as a living memory in the face of the attempt to erase history.
