These are the key conclusions from yesterday’s meeting – this is how the meeting between Jarosław Kaczyński and Mateusz Morawiecki was described on TV Republika by Olga Semeniuk-Patkowska, an MP from Law and Justice (PiS).
According to accounts from politicians of Law and Justice (PiS), Monday’s talks between party leader Jarosław Kaczyński and former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki regarding the Development Plus Association ended with an agreement and the establishment of a common direction.
However, over the weekend, emotions surrounding the situation within Law and Justice (PiS) were running high. An interview given by Patryk Jaki to TV Republika sparked a heated discussion on social media among representatives of different factions within the party. Both sides accused each other of attempting to undermine party unity. A particularly high-profile element of the heated debate was a dispute between Marcin Horała and Tobiasz Bocheński, in which the latter instructed his opponent to “show loyalty to PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński”.
Speaking today on TV Republika, Olga Semeniuk-Patkowska, former Deputy Minister of Development and a figure close to Mateusz Morawiecki, assessed that “the pragmatism of President Kaczyński and his experience will not allow this camp [Law and Justice] to be broken apart”.
“I saw statements and trends that were trying to move in the direction that this should be ended here and now”, she added.
Assessing the Kaczyński–Morawiecki talks, she stated that regarding the future, “in politics, nothing can be ‘certain for sure’”.

Asked by the hosts whether some “hardliner” [a supporter of a sharp rightward course within Law and Justice (PiS) – ed.] could join the association, she replied:
“We warmly invite everyone who would like to pursue the statutory goals of the association. This is not a closed group. Once again, to calm social emotions – and this is deserved, especially after this weekend – society is owed the word ‘we are sorry’. This word should be heard.”
