For about 10 years, the residents of neighborhood no. 6 in Kavaja continue to face the spillage of sewage in the courtyards of their homes, a problem that, according to them, has created a serious risk to health and livelihood.
The resident Shpëtim Nova, who raised the concern with the editors of “TakFak”, says that the cause of the situation is the blockage of a main well of the sewage network.
According to him, the well was damaged by a neighbor who lives abroad, while his family members denied responsibility, leaving the blame to other collectors in the area.
Residents say that during the efforts for a solution, they were faced with a clear lack of responsibility from the institutions and conflict between the parties, while the situation on the ground continues to deteriorate.
They also held a meeting in the Municipality of Kavaja, where they were received by secretary Arjan Malaj.
According to them, it was requested that a court decision be taken before the intervention in the private property, to allow the opening and unblocking of the well.
Meanwhile, residents say that the mayor was not present at the institution during their visit, while communication with him was done only by phone. According to them, he described the problem as “small and solvable”, promising intervention for a situation that has been going on for a decade.
Residents demand urgent solutions, stressing that they are exposed to pollution, heavy odors and the risk of disease.
