President Bajram Begaj paid tribute today at the cemetery of the Martyrs of the Nation on the occasion of May 5, their day, and laid a wreath at the “Mother Albania” monument.
“We commemorate and honor today with humility and deep respect the “Martyrs of the Nation”, men and women, young men and women who gave their lives for the country, freedom and the peace we enjoy today. They were idealists who fought to the sublime sacrifice to fulfill our common dream”, – wrote President Begaj in a message posted on Facebook.
While expressing gratitude and respect to the fallen, the Head of State praised their inspiring ideals for the younger generation:
“The sublime sacrifice of every patriot, – stressed President Begaj, – should serve us as a moral guide to defend without hesitation the principles and universal values of peace and justice on which democracy is based.”
On this marked day, the Head of State conveyed messages of unity and commitment to Albania’s membership in the European Union as a mission that follows the example of the martyrs, for the homeland above all else.
“Their pure idealism and selfless patriotism should inspire all of us to love our Albania more, to work for the people and for the country, ready and courageous for the greatest sacrifices. An Albania that develops, moves forward on the path of joining the European family! This is our common mission, under the example of the national martyrs!”, – emphasizes President Begaj.
“Glory forever to the blood and soul of the Nation’s Martyrs!”, the President wrote at the end of this post.
