A capacity crowd at the Soufrière Stadium witnessed the thrilling conclusion to the 2026 Blackheart/Saint Lucia Football Association Knockout Football Tournament on Saturday night, June 20, as Vieux Fort South lifted the title, defeating La Clery 4-2.
Kelvin Sylvester opened the scoring for Vieux Fort South in the fourth minute, only for McKendy Cadette to respond two minutes later. Forbes Charles restored the VFS lead, only for Cadette to pop up once more, tying the fixture going into the interval.
The scrappiness of the first half, wherein referee Renleee Napoleon showed three yellow cards to La Clery and one to Vieux Fort South, carried over into the second period. But VFS showed great resolve, as Jereme Toussaint broke away for a fine goal, and Sylvester popped up again to make it 4-2.
VFS had to play the final 16 minutes of regulation without Kyle Alexander, the tournament’s top goalkeeper, and the last 12 minutes down to 10 men after Jemal Louisy was shown a red card for violent play. 
The first under-20 edition of Saint Lucia’s longest-running competition gave the Green Giants their fifth hold on the trophy and their first since winning four in a row between 2016 and 2019. VFS forward Obafami Poyotte was named MVP of the finals.
Gros Islet dominated hosts Soufrière in the third-place playoff, winning 5-0. After missing the semifinal clash with La Clery last weekend, Dervaj Edward and Shevon Byron combined for three goals. Edward struck in the fourth and 26th minutes, and Byron in the ninth. Samaiel Louisien scored in the 38th to make it 4-0 at halftime, and tournament-leading goal scorer Rickelme Lionel put the icing on the cake in the 62nd minute.
