A strong explosion was reported near the Russian city of Belgorod on June 8. According to local residents, a Russian aerial bomb may have landed in the area. It was reported by the Russian portal Meduza with reference to local Russian media.
The local Pepel portal first reported that the explosion was caused by a Russian aerial bomb. However, he later admitted another version, according to which it could have been a detonation in an ammunition warehouse after being hit by a Ukrainian drone.
The Belgorod operational staff reported that a “detonation” damaged houses and an administrative building in the village of Belovskoye, near Belgorod. According to the crew, five women suffered concussions.
The cause of the explosion has not yet been clearly confirmed. Local sources cite several possible versions, including the fall of a Russian aerial bomb or a drone strike on an ammunition depot.
This would not be the first case when, according to local sources, a Russian aerial bomb landed on the territory of the Belgorod region. At one of previous incidents in December 2025, the local Pepel portal reported that a Russian aerial bomb fell on the city of Belgorod and exploded.
The governor of the Belgorod region Viačeslav Gladkov also informed about the event at the time. According to him, a civilian was injured and after an “unidentified munition hit” there were power outages. A truck was also damaged and windows were broken in two houses. The Pepel portal reported that no airstrike or drone warning had been issued in the city before the explosion, with residents hearing the roar of a plane flying towards the Ukrainian border shortly before the explosion.
