Garry Meehan, former Canadian hockey player and general manager of the Buffalo Sabres, died at the age of 79.
The overseas NHL club reported about it on its official website. The Toronto native was in the 1970s when Buffalo entered the Pro League and recorded the Sabres’ first ever assist.
In the years 1986–1993, he worked in the club as general manager. During his era, Alexander Mogilny became the first player from the former Soviet Union to emigrate to the USA.
Meehan played 10 seasons in the NHL, in addition to Buffalo, he also wore the jersey of Vancouver, Atlanta and Washington.
