He reggaeton made in Mexico it is not understood if one does not talk about Uzielito Mix and its role in the construction of the concept “mexa reggaeton”, a musical movement that went from being played only in isolated spaces to becoming consolidated with its own sound and identity.
Born in Mexico City in 1998, Uziel Silva, his real name, studied musical production and built a style that mixes classic reggaeton, electronic sounds and direct references to life in neighborhoods of the capital and the State of Mexico.
“We didn’t start with big concerts or festivals, we had to break ground from underground events to the biggest ones. One of the biggest moments was when I opened for Bad Bunny. Maybe it wasn’t my concert, but a festival, but in the end people also pay to see you.
“I like festivals, but I also still like to go to the perreos and the clubs. I stick to that hybrid and I think that keeps me firm with people,” says Uziel in an interview with EL UNIVERSAL.
Festivals traditionally dominated by rock or electronics, such as Vive Latino or EDC México, today include exponents like Uzielito.
“In it Live Latino Yes, I was nervous because it was a festival more about rock and other genres than anything to do with reggaeton. But in the end I didn’t care and the rockers also twerked. “I really made them bully everyone,” he says.
Between 2016 and 2019, when reggaeton made in Mexico already had a presence on the internet Uzielito Mix He was beginning to position himself as a producer with his own label ¡Mátalos Papi! and DJ, developing his own style.
With the consolidation of a new generation of artists such as El Bogueto, El Malilla either Dani Flowthat sound became closer to his audience.
“When I hit the first time, about five years ago, there was a generation, but of those only me and Mala Fe continued. Then came this new wave that connected with the people of the neighborhood. Seeing someone who comes from where you come from makes you feel identified, we needed that and they did it.”
The producer is now promoting Recording in the Office, a platform with a fusion of sounds that reinterprets the Godín office environment.
“It was very cool, they accepted new talents,” he says.
His participation is on the YouTube channel Recording in the Office.
