UTE offers a discount of up to 40% on the bill: who can access it and what are the requirements

UTE He recalled this Tuesday that he has a benefit that allows access to a discount of up to 40% on your electricity bill for certain groups of users, as long as they comply with a series of conditions established by the entity.

Among the beneficiaries are the retirees, people who collect age premiums and students of the University of the Republic (Udelar).

Retirees: how to access the UTE discount

In the case of retirees and those who receive an age premium, one of the fundamental requirements is that the electrical service be in the name of the applicant.

Those who need to make the change of ownership can do so through the UTE website or through WhatsApp at 098 193 000.

It is also possible to carry out the procedure in person at any of the UTE offices in the country.

In addition, the entity has telephone lines for inquiries and procedures:

Udelar students can also request the benefit

Students pursuing degrees at the University of the Republic can also access this bonus.

To do this, they must make the request through the Udelar self-management portalfrom where the benefit is processed before UTE.

The requirements to access the discount

For both retirees and students, UTE requires a series of conditions:

    • have a contracted power less than or equal to 3.5 kW

    • Count on simple residential rate

    • That the service is in the name of the person requesting the benefit

Furthermore, the user cannot have exceeded a consumption of 230 kWh monthly during the last moving year, that is, in the last 12 months.

UTE warns that, if this limit is exceeded for the third time, the beneficiary automatically loses the discount.

On the other hand, those who are beneficiaries of the UTE Social Bonus nor those who have a rate bonus due to their status electrodependent granted by ASSE or the BPS.

Did you know that if you are retired and receive the Age Premium, or if you are a student with a scholarship from the Solidarity Fund, you are entitled to the TCB Bonus with a 40% discount on the UTE bill?

    How the 40% discount works

As UTE explains, “This is a 40% discount on the charge for contracted power, the fixed charge and charge for energy up to 150 kWh of monthly consumption“.

The organization adds that “The first 150 kWh receive a 40% discount, while the rest of the energy is billed at the normal price“.

He also points out that “The fixed charge and the charge for contracted power are always reduced by 40%, regardless of the consumption made.“.
