Shocking reports have emerged from behind the scenes of Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Poland. According to unofficial information, Prime Minister Donald Tusk deliberately blocked a meeting between the French president and President Karol Nawrocki.
Deliberate sabotage by Tusk?
The visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Poland was meant to strengthen relations between the two countries and enable high-level talks. However, the event’s program has sparked major controversy. The French head of state is set to arrive in Gdańsk for the 1st Polish-French Intergovernmental Summit marking Polish-French Friendship Day. Notably, the schedule does not include a meeting with President Karol Nawrocki, even though – as established by journalists from Polsat News – such talks were expected by the Presidential Palace. The presidential side was interested in holding talks with Macron. This is standard diplomatic practice. A visit by a head of state usually involves a meeting with the sitting president of the host country. This time, that will not happen.
However, something else has caused even greater outrage. According to unofficial reports, it was Prime Minister Donald Tusk who pushed for Nawrocki not to meet Macron:
“Donald Tusk was very keen to ensure that a meeting between President Karol Nawrocki and Emmanuel Macron did not take place,” said journalist Grzegorz Urbanek.
If true, this would mark yet another chapter in the fierce political conflict between the leader of Civic Platform (KO) and the president – a conflict that puts state security and international relations at risk. This is all the more surprising given that the summit’s talks are expected to focus on key issues such as security, military and economic cooperation, and allied relations.
