New York, Honduras
He gasoline price in the United States low of four dollars per gallon (3.78 liters) for the first time since the end of March, according to data from the American Automobile Association (AAA) published this Thursday.
The national average for gasoline in the US stood at $3.99, a figure not reached since March 30, one month after the war between the United States and Iran, which kept prices skyrocketing.
However, after reaching a maximum of $4.56 per gallon on May 21, the price of gasoline has maintained a downward trend.
Especially after announcing the peace agreement between Washington and Tehran and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which before the war was key to much of the world’s oil.
Despite the drop in the average, there are states in which the price of gasoline is still significantly higher, such as California where a gallon costs $5.6.
In general, gasoline does not go below $4.5 per gallon in the west coast states, Alaska and Hawaii.
New York State is where it is most expensive to refuel on the East Coast: $4.29 per gallon.
The cheapest states are those in the south and southeast of the country: North Carolina ($3.6), South Carolina ($3.58), Alabama ($3.61) and Texas ($3.49).
Still, despite optimism about the resumption of traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, investors are worried about the shortage of oil reserves.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) cut its forecasts for global oil consumption for this year by another 700,000 barrels a day and warned that the oil industry will take months to recover, fueling fears of new tensions in supply.
