“Due to the heavy fire attack, the Southern Defense Forces have forced the occupiers to withdraw from their positions, the evacuation of surviving personnel is underway and the occupiers are leaving their defense lines,” the statement said.
The military also showed footage of strikes on Russian troops at Kinburn Spit and a Ukrainian flag on the roof of a building.
Earlier, the guerrilla movement Ateš, citing its agent from the headquarters of the Dnieper military group, reported that the actions of the defense forces cut off supply routes and forced the Russians to urgently evacuate the Kinburn Spit.
There have been reports that units of the Russian 337th Regiment are abandoning their positions as ammunition, fuel and food supplies have been cut off.
At the same time, Vladyslav Voloshyn, the representative of the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine, confirmed to the news portal “Unian” that the Russians did indeed face major logistical problems due to the strikes of Ukrainian drones.
On June 9 Experts from the Institute of Military Research (ISW) estimated that the Russian army is likely to abandon its positions in the northern and western parts of the Kinburn Spit due to the disruption of logistics.
The Russians did not leave Kinburn
After some time, the spokesman of the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, stated that the Russian forces had not yet left the Kinburn Spit.
“Kinburn Spit is of strategic importance to the occupiers. It remains an active war zone at this time,” he noted, denying an earlier report.
However, he confirmed that the Ukrainian flag was raised on the spit and that the Ukrainian army continues to strike the enemy’s logistics routes.
“Yes, we raised the flag,” he noted.
It is explained that the flag was raised over the spit by the soldiers of the 801st anti-submarine forces and objects sabotage center of the Ukrainian Navy.
“Every meter of Ukrainian land will be liberated. We continue to fight and move forward,” the soldiers noted.
According to D. Pletenciuk, the defense forces are making progress in the Kinburn Spit.
“We’re not talking about liberating the spit yet, but our presence there is quite significant. It’s very important to disrupt the enemy’s logistics because it’s causing them problems,” he stressed.
The Kinburn Spit is located in the Mykolaiv district, a few kilometers from Ochakov. It is a continuation of the Kinburn Peninsula and partially separates the Black Sea from the mouth of the Dnieper-Bug, blocking traffic from the ports of Kherson and Mykolaiv.
The Kinburn Spit is part of the Fund of Nature Reserves of Ukraine, which includes the Sviatoslav White Coast National Nature Park and the Kinburn Spit Regional Landscape Park.
Spit was occupied by the Russian army in 2022. March in 2024 August 9 Ukrainian Defense Intelligence Special Forces raided the Kinburn Spit, killing dozens of Russian soldiers and destroying a large amount of equipment. This spit is the only occupied part of the Mykolaiv region.
