A terrorist group allegedly responsible for the sabotage of a Czech arms company in March has threatened further action against companies that have links to the Israeli Elbit Systems, according to a statement released today.
Czech authorities have detained several members of the Earthquake Faction group, classified as terrorist, who claimed responsibility for a fire that occurred on March 24 at the premises of LPP Holding, in Pardubice, around 120 kilometers east of Prague.
The fire caused losses estimated at eight million euros, affecting the company’s production areas and offices.
According to the portal Novinky.cz, the group had imposed an ultimatum on LPP Holding to declare the nonexistence of links to Elbit Systems, a deadline that expired today, claiming now to have new documents that will prove cooperation between the two.
“We remind everyone who works with Elbit that they have two options: wait for our response or publicly announce the severing of these ties”, says the statement released by the group.
The text also mentions the Indian defense company Data Patterns, which maintained contacts with LPP Holding, according to documents allegedly obtained before the fire.
The authors also claim an escalation of attacks against the arms industry, stating that “the situation is now very tense”.
In total, 10 people were arrested for alleged involvement in the sabotage: five in the Czech Republic, one in Slovakia, three in Poland and one in Bulgaria.
Slovak police extradited, on Thursday, to the Czech Republic a US citizen detained in the country.
Czech authorities are holding six suspects in pre-trial detention on national territory, including a US citizen who refused to make a statement.
The detainees face charges of terrorist attack and participation in a terrorist organization, crimes punishable by up to 20 years in prison, according to Czech law.
