“Trump has his tail between his legs” – Kommersant

The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, an interim peace agreement between Iran and the United States, continues to be the focus of media attention around the world, especially in the countries directly affected by it. Americans are pondering how the end of the war will affect the midterm elections in November. Israelis are outraged by Trump’s “surrender” and are trying to get used to the fact that Israel is now on its own. Arab observers see all this as a clear defeat for the Palestinian cause. In Iran, they continue to celebrate and explain, almost point by point, why the memorandum is a convincing and unambiguous victory for Tehran.

    Consequences of the Iran deal

Remember when President Trump promised his supporters that “there will be no deal with Iran short of UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER”? The deal he just made doesn’t look like a surrender document. She leaves the Islamic Republic not only intact, but also feeling stronger.

The war has created a split in the usually super-Trump-loyal MAGA camp. And it has given Democrats plenty to criticize ahead of the midterm elections in November.

All this would seem to point to a crisis in the Trump camp and a potential defeat in the November elections… But perhaps the US President will not suffer so much because of all this. The tension in the party is real… But, at least for now, the loudest critics are those in the MAGA camp who are either already largely out of office or have announced their impending departure… In other words, there are cracks, but they are not yet a crisis… They may be painful for Republicans as the election approaches, but they are likely to be less disastrous than the aftermath of the war might lead one to believe.

Trump’s Versailles Treaty Turns the October 7 War into a Strategic Defeat

From an Israeli point of view, the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the United States and Iran is a document that is magnificent in its disgustingness.

To a large extent, and no matter what US President Donald Trump says, this is an agreement for America to surrender, even though Iran seemed to be losing on the battlefield.

The US provides (Iran.— “Kommersant”) immediate benefits and… stunningly promise… $300 billion to rebuild the Iranian economy. How much of this money will go to strengthening the very regime that killed thousands of its own citizens in January? And how much of it will be sent to Hezbollah and perhaps Hamas to help them recover from the Israeli strikes following the October 7 Gaza massacre? The bottom line is that Trump has his tail between his legs, is moving away from the Persian Gulf and may be losing interest in the entire region.

Palestine continues to burn amid fuss over Iran deal

Now that Iran and the US have announced an agreement, all the news is about the “end of the war.” But there is no end in sight to Israel’s war because it was never fought primarily against Iran.

Iran is just another front in the long war against Palestine. The buildings are still falling apart. Children are still dying.

The snipers are here to stay. The drones didn’t fly anywhere. The bulldozers are still there. And we are told to call it a “ceasefire”… This is what the Iran story helps cover up… And Palestine continues to disappear, swallowed up by another story. The dead are now dead not because Israel killed them. They are dead because the region is unstable, because Iran is dangerous, because Israel claims to defend itself.

Tehran’s strategic victory and the weakening of Washington’s deterrence

The Memorandum of Understanding… comprehensively reflects the changing balance of power in the region and the stabilization of the geopolitical position of the Islamic Republic of Iran. An examination of the contents and context of the drafting of this memorandum shows that the United States, having failed to achieve its main goals, was forced to accept new realities on the battlefield… The sequence of events leading to this agreement indicates the complete failure of the opposing side to achieve the stated goals of the war (including the destruction of the regime, the division of Iranian territory and the plunder of national resources). The White House’s insistence on the negotiation process was due to the military stalemate and inability to use its proxies and terrorists as leverage; Consequently, the very structure of the negotiations is a demonstration of the strength of Iranian resistance and the weakening of American deterrence…

One of Iran’s most important strategic achievements in this memorandum is the strengthening of the resistance front and its legitimacy. Washington’s acceptance of this document means official recognition of the expansion of Iran’s strategic influence and the scope of its political, military, intellectual and military influence in the region.

‘This is capitulation’: Republican hawks attack Trump’s Iran deal

The US President had to be content with a temporary agreement on the resumption of work in the Strait of Hormuz, which was very beneficial for Tehran. Discontent is growing in his camp… The agreement allows Tehran to resume oil exports, leaves open the possibility of future tariffs and the path to a $300 billion recovery fund, without mentioning the ballistic missile program. And all this in the hope of resolving the thorny issue of nuclear weapons within the next sixty days.

These concessions were poorly received in Israel, as well as among Republican hawks. “Ronald Reagan would be rolling over in his grave,” said Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana.

The recovery fund is also criticized… Ted Cruz (from Florida.— “Kommersant”) says: “History teaches us that giving billions of dollars to theocratic fanatics who want us dead is a bad idea. “I think the president is getting very bad advice on this.”
