Commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has all but disappeared over the past day until the US and Iran can agree on an interim agreement to open the route.

On Friday morning, commercial passages through the strait were not recorded. On Thursday, ships passed only six times: three on the way out of the Persian Gulf and three on the way in, according to vessel tracking data.

The US-Iran talks made little progress this week. Tehran is demanding a ceasefire in Lebanon ahead of an agreement with the US to open the Strait of Hormuz and extend the ceasefire for two months.
CENTCOM denied Iran’s claims of shelling US warships in the Gulf of Oman.
At the same time, the command reported that the US Navy had already diverted 129 commercial vessels and immobilized another six to comply with the blockade of Iranian ports.
