The first session of the General Secondary School Certificate Examination for the year 2026 (12th grade – 2008 generation) begins Thursday, and will continue until Saturday, July 18, with the first session being held at ten in the morning, and the second at one in the afternoon.
In the first session, (126,679) male and female students take the Islamic Education (specialization) and Islamic Studies exams, distributed among (738) examination centres.
The total number of applicants is (196,029), including (140,972) regular students, and (55,057) new participants and repeaters through private study. The regulars are divided into (127,956) in the academic track and (13,016) in the technical vocational track.
Students in the academic track are distributed among the following fields: health (45,116), engineering (11,695), science and technology (16,347), languages and social sciences (11,946), law and forensic sciences (38,702), and business (4,150).
(200) participants in correctional and rehabilitation centers and juvenile centers are also taking the exam, distributed among (17) centers, in addition to (11) in the King Hussein Cancer Center, and (611) students with disabilities, including: the deaf (135), the blind (79), the motor disabilities (158), the cerebral palsy (97), and the visually impaired (142).
Exams are held in (790) examination centers that include (1,899) halls, in addition to (42) reserve halls, while they are supervised by thousands of educational staff in various governorates.
