Two people were arrested in Árbæn in connection with a large-scale assault last night. They are still in police custody awaiting questioning.
The police in the capital area received a notification at around 6 pm last night. This is confirmed by Ásmundur Rúnar Gylfason, assistant superintendent of the police in the capital region.
“Those arrested are waiting to be questioned today and are still in police custody,” he says.
One was taken to the emergency room for examination, but is not believed to be life-threatening. No weapons were used, but Ásmundur says that one object was used that cannot be considered a weapon.
The arrested have previously been reported to the police. A decision has not been made on what the next steps will be and it will not be made until after the hearings.
