On Wednesday, Prime Minister Seifi Gharib chaired a government meeting devoted to studying a number of files of a health and development nature, in addition to following up on strategic projects in the fields of transportation and water resources.

In a statement by the First Ministry, it stated that the government has studied a draft executive decree that specifies the conditions and methods for prescribing and dispensing pharmaceutical substances intended for human use, with the aim of framing the practices of health professionals within public and private health institutions and structures, and ensuring the safe and rational use of medicines in accordance with public health requirements.

This text comes within the framework of strengthening the national drug system and modernizing medical practices, in line with developments taking place in the health sector, especially in light of the diversity of pharmaceutical products in circulation and the increasing challenges associated with sensitive substances and the risks of counterfeiting and illicit diversion of drugs.

The government also studied a draft executive decree requiring a public benefit declaration for the process related to the completion of the railway line linking Algiers and Tamanrasset, in the two parts of Menia-In Salah and In Salah-Tamanrasset.

The first part extends over a distance of 410 km, while the length of the second part is 676 km, as part of a strategic project with a total length of more than 2,400 km, and aims to strengthen the railway transport network towards the high plateaus and the southern states, thus contributing to improving transportation conditions and supporting economic and development dynamism in the regions concerned.

In the context of monitoring the situation in the supply of potable water, the government listened to a presentation on the progress of the works to complete and connect the mouth of the seawater desalination plant in Fouka, directed at strengthening the water supply west of Algiers, in addition to following up on the project to supply the town of Tin Zouatin in the province of In Guezam with drinking water from the Tanzoft water field.
