Ansu Fati was once regarded as one of the most promising stars in world football. The forward was considered one of Barcelona’s most talented youngsters until the rise of Lamine Yamal.
However, he had to leave Barcelona due to the decrease in performance over time. He later played for Brighton & Hove Albion and AS Monaco on loan. He did not even have a place in Spain’s World Cup team.
The 23-year-old Spanish forward has started a new chapter in his life amidst the uncertainty of his football career. This time he stepped into the world of music.
Fati released his first solo song recently. Titled ‘Sea Como Sea’ in Spanish, the song’s recording and music video was shot in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
He has signed a global distribution deal with music management company Music Brokers, a subsidiary of Sony Music. Through this, he set the precedent of being the first player to emerge from Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy to release commercial music.
About 2 minutes and 15 seconds long, the song is a mix of Afrobeats, Reggaeton and Amapiano. It clearly shows the musical influences of his native Guinea-Bissau, growing up in Spain and South Africa.
Fati said he became interested in songwriting while rehabilitating a serious knee injury in 2020. Later, while spending time in AS Monaco, he pursued his music career by regularly working in the studio.
About his new venture, he said, ‘Many people think they know my story because they have seen me score goals. But this song shows another side of my life.’
Meanwhile, Spanish media Mundo Deportivo reported that AS Monaco is going to keep him permanently in the team and his contract with Barcelona could be finalized soon.
