Brasilia (Brazil), May 2, 2026 (SPS) – The University of Brasilia hosted a meeting on the memory of peoples and their struggles, where the Sahrawi issue in all its dimensions was highlighted within a discussion aimed at introducing the situation in this occupied territory, which is still awaiting decolonization.
The representative of the Polisario Front in Brazil, Ahmed Moulay Ali, participated in the meeting that took place yesterday, Thursday, who gave a detailed presentation on the situation in the occupied Sahrawi territories, in which he addressed issues related to human rights and the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination in accordance with international law.
In his intervention, the Sahrawi diplomat drew the attention of the academic community and the audience to an issue that “is still subject to a media blackout due to the siege imposed by the Moroccan occupation to withhold the facts from world public opinion about its gross violations of human rights in the occupied territory.”
This initiative represented an “important milestone” to break the wall of silence imposed by the Moroccan occupation on the Sahrawi issue and “an opportunity to renew solidarity with the just struggle of the Sahrawi people for self-determination and independence.”
The event also contributed to re-shedding light within Brazilian university, cultural and academic circles on the latest issue of decolonization in Africa, and on the suffering of the Sahrawi people as a result of the Moroccan occupation and the refugee status that has continued for decades.
