In Ararat Marz, the major repair works of the local highway connecting Merdzavan-Aygek settlements are continuing. The modernization of the 8.2-kilometer road section aims to provide safe and comfortable traffic not only for local residents, but also for many factories operating in the area.
“Armenpress”according to the report, this is mentioned in the video published on the “Facebook” page of the RA government.
According to Artur Avetisyan, the representative of the road construction company, the construction works are being carried out in such a way as not to obstruct the traffic.
“There are cases when we temporarily close the road in one direction, according to the temporary scheme of traffic organization, so that the works do not interfere with the traffic and traffic jams do not occur,” Avetisyan noted.
A road with modern standards is being built instead of a road that has been worn out for years with asphalt pavement and dirt sections in some places. The project envisages a road structure with a thickness of more than half a meter, with a layer of sand gravel and a two-layer asphalt concrete cover of type C5. The state has invested about 1 billion 380 million drams for the implementation of the project.
According to Artur Avetisyan, there was no efficient drainage system in the road section before, while now, within the framework of the overhaul, drainage will be completely organized in all four sections, using concrete slabs. The construction of sidewalks is also included in the project.
Road construction in the republic continues to be one of the Government’s priorities. As in the previous years, this year too a program of repairing and overhauling about 500 kilometers of roads is planned. If earlier the main part of the works was allocated to interstate and republican roads, this year emphasis was placed on local and community roads.
According to Kristine Ghalechyan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, this approach is also due to the state program for the construction and rehabilitation of 300 schools.
“Within the framework of 500 kilometers of road construction works, about 100 kilometers of roads are planned to be restored, especially in the road sections leading to schools,” the deputy minister noted.
At the same time, preparations for the international cycling tournament “Tour of Armenia” to be held in Armenia for the first time in September continue. For this purpose, the road construction projects also included the improvement works of the tournament routes.
According to Kristine Ghalechyan, in Tavush, Lori, Gegharkunik marzes and Yerevan, those parts of the tournament routes that may be problematic are being studied, and if necessary, additional restoration and improvement works will be carried out.
At the same time, the control over the construction quality is continuously being tightened in the sector. According to the persons in charge, the works that do not meet the established standards are not accepted, and the costs of eliminating the recorded defects are covered by the construction organizations at their own expense.
