The Algerian national team was eliminated from the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup, after losing 2-0 to Switzerland.
Goalkeeper Luca Zidane conceded early, specifically in the 10th minute, with an Empoli goal, a goal that came against the course of play.
This goal affected the morale of the “Greens”, who, despite some attempts, were unable to adjust, and with the passage of time, defensive mistakes and haste on the other hand increased, which greatly facilitated the task of the Swiss national team players.
While the Algerian fans were waiting for a strong reaction from the “Greens”, goalkeeper Zidane conceded the second goal, in the 46th minute, after a lapse by Ait Nouri, who missed the ball, and then Belghali, who presented the goal ball on a plate so that Nadoui could score the second.
Contrary to the aspirations of the Algerian fans, who, despite the defeat, were eager to see the team attack fiercely in order to return the result, the reaction was modest, with a lackluster performance, with chances that did not pose the necessary danger.
The changes brought about by coach Petkovic did not bring anything new, on the contrary, as the Swiss team almost deepened the score on many occasions.
